Sweet, sweet Elisabeth is a cure for the soul, with her compassion and loyalty, and the way she keeps dotting on Nathaniel like he is the most precious thing in the world (because he is! Seriously, the bond isn't even necessary at this point, if only to keep him on the same plane as his Master and Mistress. I’m gonna be honest, before I started reading this, I didn’t really remember much from the previous book so I did have to read a couple summaries I found online, but after I started remembering who the characters were and what had happened, I was so happy to be back into this world. Mysteries of Thorn Manor honestly read like a fanfiction one-shot, but I honestly really enjoyed that. It is what every reader hopes for from their favourite universes - a little novella of pure fluff and domestic bliss: drama-free, funny, sweet and so much fun.

Even though she knew this was a ridiculous thing to think, she felt as though kissing were something they had discovered—a marvelous secret that only they knew, and were inventing as they went along. it doesn’t try to introduce a major plot point but rather focuses on the characters and their relationships with each other. You’re brave, strong, an unstoppable force for good—which I admire even though it’s very inconvenient for me personally—and you drive me mad with lust, especially when you’re stomping around in that giant suit of armour. In that moment she thought fiercely that she would protrct him from anything; she would battle villains, demons, monsters, to keep him safe.

cw/tw: blood depiction, harm to get blood for magic, grief + trauma depictions, extreme nightmares, loss of a loved on in the past, talk of murders/death.

Regardless, this one had all the feels, all the swoons, and was essentially like being wrapped in a warm hug with a cup of your favorite warm beverage by a roaring fire. With no access to the outside world, Elisabeth and Nathaniel have to work together to discover the source of the magic before they're due to host the city's Midwinter Ball. This is my type of fan service; it adds to the story without turning it into something other than what it previously was.

It all has the same effect it did in the first book, maybe even more so now that they are officially together and away from serious trouble.Since the book only came out a few weeks ago, I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't read it yet. For anyone who read and loved Sorcery of Thorns, if you didn’t already want to read this, I recommend it so much! In this novella we follow Elizabeth and Nathaniel after the events of Sorcery of Thorns as they navigate new challenges within Thorn Manor this time. I loved spending more time in Austermeer with Nathaniel, Elizabeth and Silas - we even get a chapter from Silas's point of view. Let me start this review by saying I absolutely cannot believe it’s been more than three years since Sorcery of Thorns came out!

Faced with a house filled with unexpected secrets, the couple will have to lean on their connection like never before to set things right before it’s too late .And Nathaniel… I laughed so hard and so often throughout this short little book, because his wit absolutely shines here. He does so much for both of them and he will help them with anything even if they don’t ask for his help. This novella highlighted so much of her charm, most of all showing us the way she slowly learns to live with a heart that is so big and so full of adoration for her little family, she can hardly stand it.
